Leading customer publishing business PSP Rare has been appointed by the Royal Society to produce a special commemorative programme for its 350th anniversary.
The Royal Society was formed in 1660 as a fellowship of the world’s most eminent scientists, engineers and technologists. Its founder members included Robert Boyle and Christopher Wren, and prominent members include Samuel Pepys, Sir Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking and Tim Berners-Lee. There are currently around 1,400 Fellows of the Society.
The Society celebrates the 350th anniversary of its establishment in November 2010, and to mark the occasion, it has commissioned PSP Rare to produce a publication which documents the Society’s achievements and details the programme of events which the Society is organising to celebrate its anniversary and which run from the end of 2009.
“This is an incredibly significant occasion for the Royal Society, celebrating the progression of science in Britain and the Commonwealth and the impact which it has had on the world over 350 years,” said Stephen Cox, Executive Secretary of the Royal Society . “We are delighted to be working with PSP Rare to produce the programme to mark this important milestone.”
Shalene Varcoe, Account Director for the project, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the PSP Rare team to work with one of the most eminent organisations in the country producing a magazine that will be looked back on in another 50 years’ time.”
The magazine will be distributed to Royal Society Fellows and partner organisations from November this year.
