British Heart Foundation commissions new magazine heart and soul.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) have commissioned PSPRare Publishing to produce a brand new 36-page magazine, entitled heart and soul, specifically for the UK South Asian community to be distributed at Mela events throughout the UK in 2008.

South Asians are 50 per cent more likely to suffer heart disease than other members of the UK population. The magazine will deliver lifesaving information on diet, health and heart disease directly into the hands of those who need it most. heart and soul will feature recognisable faces from the business and culinary worlds, inspiring community initiatives, sports and Bollywood stars, all with the same message: “Get heart healthy.”

Olena Baker, editor of the BHF’s bi-monthly publication heart health, commented, “We’re very excited about this magazine. It will be the centrepiece of the BHF’s communication with South Asian communities and will help address the causes of heart disease in a culturally specific way.”

heart and soul will have both male and female readership spanning the seven to 70 age range. It will reach a diversity of religions, social groups and ethnic origins presenting a forum for information and debate on how to improve diet and lifestyle without loosing sight of traditional values. PSPRare Publishing will ensure that the magazine delivers the breadth of content that will satisfy readers, reflect impeccably on the BHF and hopefully begin to reduce the shocking heart disease statistics.
